A $27.2M Gift to the Math Department by the Brin Family. The university announced today a big gift to the Math Department. The very generous gift of $27.2M was made by Michael & Eugenia Brin. The gift will endow the Brin Mathematics Research Center, establish an endowed chair, and launch a summer camp for high school students.

Math 113 is a credit course designed primarily as preparation for Math 220, elementary calculus. Students should be aware that credit cannot be earned for both Math 110 and 113, nor for both Math 115 and 113, though it may be appropriate for some students to take these combinations of courses. Students are required to have a graphing calculator.Math 123, with 124, is a two semester sequence for students with limited math background who desire careers in the sciences. In two semesters, students progress from algebra through the basic calculus covered in Math 113. Math 123 integrates the beginnings of calculus through the derivative with relevant precalculus algebra and trigonometry.Qualifying score on the Mathematics Placement Exam. Topics. It is taught 5 days per week for the first 5 weeks, then leads directly into a special section of MATH107, the same semester, which also meets 5 days per week.
